The summer is now well under way. We know because the Feste delle Piazzette are just about to start – ten days of live music in the piazzas of Barga Vecchia but this evening it was the turn of Barga Giardino.
The whole area was in high festa for the first of the summer midnight markets.
Thousands of people milling round at midnight among the market stalls and shops selling every thing from African masks to shoe laces, clothes, antiques, flashing toys or sweet things to eat. There is something strange about buying a candyfloss in the dark … hmm, maybe not … fairgrounds are also open at night are they not ?
