We might just be in the same kind of situation when to paraphrase the great writer Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, “Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated!” but if the whispers floating round are true, then last night we really did see the last public performance of Barga’s premier blues band – The Jack’s Pack.
An enthusiastic audience at Barga Jazz Club joined in the fun as Geoff Collins-White and his boys ran through a medley of their greatest hits.
It’s a shame if they really have called it a day because as recently at last years Piazzette concerts they were still showing they were a force to be reckoned with
– A two hour set featuring some of their favourite sounds and all with the usual well solid rhythm backbone supplied by JJ Carde on the drums and Gino Tonico on the bass.
Somebody must have fired a rocket up some body part of Jack Nannini this evening as he really let rip his guitar … his usual well laid back, almost ambient style of playing being replaced by a (dare we say it ? …aggressive) sharp and powerful lead guitar sound taking the front of stage, holding it against all comers and leaving Simone Venturi to do the fill in chords on the keyboards. Nice concert – the boys. – article here
Unless the Lazarus syndrome kicks in then this year’s Festa del Centro Storico is going to be a somewhat dismal affair. The Jacks Pack website is here
