Circles and squares in Barga – 600 images

A real blast from the past this morning with a series of images taken in and around Barga Vecchia ten years ago this week.  The  barganews award-winning photographer O’Connor spent his day in 2000  wandering around the city with his first digital camera – the Olympus C-803L which took images of 1.3 megapixels,  a high resolution back  at the start of this century ( some more of those images can be seen here)

What O’Connor had in mind that day is somewhat difficult to say,  but apparently he did have some kind of template in his head as all of the images fitted under the working title of circles and squares in Barga.

Click on the following link and then use the comments section below this article  if you think you have understood just when it was he was after with his 600 images.

  1. Hmmmm. Circles and Squares of course, as the title suggests. But also locks, hubcaps, grates and door-knockers — items affixed to our penetrating the circles and squares of wheels, doors and windows. Protective embellishments. An allegory on security?

  3. I think he meant to take images of the whole car or the whole house, or the whole door, but with a 1.3 megapixel camera, I guess he couldn't?

Hmm,,,,,,,,,,,nope, no idea what you were after in those days my old box brownie basher. You should however thank god for the technological advances since that time. They have quite possibly kept you out of the chokey sick boy!

  5. Zambo is really softening up in old age, a kind of Scottish wet Tory. Next thing you know he'll be drinking his whiskey with milk. Poor Izzy.

  6. Look monkey boy,
If I wanted to be a Scottish wet Tory I would have joined the Labour party with all the rest of them. However, bad taste, a good upbringing, and a well thumbed picture of Saint Maggie the Thatcher depriving a frostbitten miner of coal as he is savaged by an Alsatian police dog while Bob Dylan sings "The times they are a changin" sort of made me think twice about how I wanted to be remembered by my children.
So, on reflection. I intend to join forces with, the Klingons, Jabba the Hutt , the Black Dalek, Lord Foul the Despiser and David Cameron and become a Liberal Democrat.
The talentless clown that said we Lib Dems were boring needs to change his address as I have just found him on Google Earth!

  7. Cheers Monacu,
You have just cured my Lactose intolerance and IBS in one fell swoop with that cocktail recipe (whiskey and milk). Stiil have a wee problem with this drink. I asked for one in O. Henry's Gay bar in Aberdeen and got chucked out for being a Wet ScottishTory!
Say no to recreational drugs they make you talk Lilan.
