For the second year running the Annual Presepe Vivente has been called because of the bad weather. The last time this event actually took place here in Barga was 2008 (article here) and the year before that in 2007 it cancelled as well. It is an added shame as this year there were 200 “figuranti” – participants dressed in costume, for the event.
What normally would be seen would be scenes inside cantinas and cellars specially opened up for the occasion and decked out to show how life was in the not so distant past. Of course as this was the Presepe Vivente, there would also be that wonderful mix of images from the near past and the far past … Roman centurions mixing quite happily with turn of the century farm workers and biblical figures moving through school rooms from the 1930?s. Mediaeval soldiers rubbing shoulders with woman dressed in clothes from 100 years ago and so it goes on – a mix and match of cultures, times and styles. Some of the juxtapositions were bordering on the just plain bizarre but nobody seems to mind or worry about historical fact.
Instead we will now have to wait another 12 months and hope for better weather next year.
Amministrazione comunale e Coordinamento Gruppi Presepe Vivente hanno deciso di comune accordo di non effettuare l’edizione 2010 del Presepe Vivente. Una decisione non facile, ma il maltempo che ha colpito Barga il giorno del Presepe e i precedenti, e considerato il perdurare delle avverse condizioni meteo, ha spinto l’Amministrazione e il Coordinamento Gruppi Presepe Vivente ad annullare l’evento in programma il 23 dicembre. L’Amministrazione Comunale ha aspettato fino all’ultimo momento utile prima di prendere la difficile decisione, verificando gli aggiornamenti meteo che però davano un aumento delle precipitazioni proprio nel pomeriggio del 23 dicembre. Una scelta non facile perchè quest’anno la partecipazione e l’entusiasmo sono cresciuti, portando il presepe barghigiano ad essere il più grande in valle del Serchio con 200 figuranti, grazie anche al maggiore sforzo organizzativo messo in campo dal Comune.
Il sindaco di Barga, Marco Bonini, l’assessore Gabriele Giovannetti, il consigliere Stefano Santi e per il Coordinamento Enrico Cosimi tengono comunque a ringraziare le tante persone che hanno messo a disposizione i loro fondi, i gruppi, i comitati e i molti cittadini che anche quest’anno si sono resi come di consueto disponibili a partecipare al Presepe Vivente barghigiano.
