Two weeks after the main simulated earthquake exercise, Terex 2010 finished at Fornaci di Barga (Terex 2010 Day one is here, Day two here) this morning there was movement once again on the ruins of the school blown up as part of the simulated damage for Terex. Dog handlers from the Vigili Del Fuoco in Pisa, Livorno, Prato and Siena where using the rubble to train six of their dogs which are used for finding people buried after an earthquake.
Terex 2010 -- The scenario envisaged is that of a simulated earthquake in Garfagnana — in the area around Piazza Serchio with simulated damage in and around Barga. The organisers of EU Terex 2010 are planning on simulating damage and response by emergency services to the same kind of earthquake which struck Garfagnana on the 6th -7th September in 1920 and caused 171 deaths. The scenario this November will be of an earthquake registering 10 on the Mercalli scale with between 1000 to 7,000 victims and 4o,000 to 2oo,000 houses collapsed and roads blocked not just in the provinces of Lucca and Massa, but also in neighbouring areas.
A distanza di due settimane, la working area realizzata sulle macerie della ex scuola materna di Fornaci torna ad essere protagonista.
Dopo essere stata teatro delle simulazioni di ricerca durante Terex 2010, la grande esercitazione antisismica conclusasi il 27 novembre scorso, questa mattina le macerie della vecchia scuola sono servite anche per un’esercitazione dei nuclei cinofili dei Vigili Del Fuoco, dato che si ritiene che quello di Fornaci sia uno dei teatri più verosimili nella simulazione di un crollo.
Di buona mattina, dunque, una decina di uomini appartenenti ai nuclei cinofili dei Vigili del Fuoco di Pisa, Livorno, Prato e Siena, assieme a sei cani addestrati alla ricerca di superstiti, hanno simulato la ricerca di persone sotto le macerie, grazie anche ad alcuni volontari della Protezione Civile di Molazzana che si sono prestati come cavie.
Il tutto, ancora una volta, per testare, provare e, in caso di necessità, implementare la risposta di tutti i protagonisti che in caso di emergenza vengono coinvolti nella macchina dei soccorsi
