Fiat 500 in the snow
The snow which had been predicted to fall on Barga for the last week or so, finally did as it was supposed to do and as temperatures dropped to -5, down came the flakes.
The road to Fornaci di Barga via Loppia was shut to traffic this morning as icy conditions made the going very hard on the hairpin bends.

5pm update : the temperature today has never risen above -2 and so as dark falls over Barga, the main preoccupation for those on the move is the probably formation of ice during the evening.
The schools in the area have all been given a day off tomorrow (Saturday) after the Mayor of Barga decided that it would be too hazardous to move all the students first thing in the morning with black ice on the roads. The Barga Jazz Club was also closed this evening but most restaurants in the city stayed open for business.
