After the partial flooding of the Teatro dei Differenti earlier on this week (article here) technicians were soon on the spot to stop the flow of water entering the theatre allowing work to begin on drying the place out ready for the Christmas shows later on this week….. except that the flooding was worse than originally thought and so the drying period has taken longer. The Christmas concert of the “Gaetano Luporini” Barga band was one of the casualties and so at the last minute the concert was moved out of Barga Vecchia and down to the Sacro Cuore in Barga Giardino. Not that it made a lot of difference really as the audience dutifully followed the band down to Giardino and the concert carried on as usual.
It has to be said that in the past the musical quality of the band has sometimes been, shall we say, questionable. Not any longer folks, a huge difference is now very evident in the music that the band is now capable of playing. Not sure if it is due to some of the new members of the band or if its just a surge of energy and moral overall but the difference is noticeable.
