Checking the archives of barganews reveals that the Bar just outside of Barga Vecchia known as Paolo Gas’s Bar, has been at the centre of attention in the life of this community since the day that Paolo Gas opened the doors to his first customers. Unfortunately during the night it would seem that somebody else was interested in the contents of his bar as thieves managed to break in and make good their escape with the contents of the gaming machines.
According to his daughter, Celeste Marchetti, the thieves entered via a small window in the toilet before emptying the machines and some money left in the till overnight before exiting by the same window.
There was some surprise this morning due to the size of the window used – very small, they must have been quite agile to use it but also because they left behind “the tools of their trade” – a torch, screwdriver and crowbar. The general consensus this morning was that they were disturbed and left in a hurry.
