The theatre group from Gallicano – Compagnia La Ribalta di Gallicano were back in Barga this afternoon for the second performance of their production based around the life of Karol Wojtyla, better known as the Pope, Giovanni Paolo II.
A week ago they manage to fill the theatre (article here) with their moving production of the dramatic and terrible events in Poland during the Second World War as seen through the eyes of the young Karol Wojtyla.
This week instead there were one or two empty seats still left in the Teatro dei Differenti but that should not take anything away from their ambitious project involving more than 40 actors on the stage during the performance. Dramatic lighting, powerful background music and sound effects all added up to a powerful performance whose centrepiece, Karol Wojtyla is still thought of by some people as the man who single-handedly brought down communism and should be revered as the saint.

E’ questo l’impegno della Compagnia La Ribalta di Gallicano che stasera ha portato in scena a Barga per la regia di Ettore Brogi “Non abbiate paura paura…mai” uno spettacolo che racconta la vita di Karol Wojtyla, di papa Giovanni Paolo II, che ha vissuto in prima persona le drammatiche vicende del suo paese, la Polonia al quale è rimasto legato. Parte proprio da qui, dagli anni in cui giovanissimo cercava di sfuggire come il suo popolo agli orrori della guerra, la storia raccontata stasera davanti ad un numeroso pubblico.
La rappresentazione della compagnia gallicanese interpreta alcune delle esperienze del Papa che nei giorni scorsi è stato proclamato beato e dà voce alle sue riflessioni, maturate sotto la pressione delle molteplici forme del male, ma senza mai perdere la prospettiva del bene e nella convinzione, sacrostanta, che questo avrebbe prevalso.
