The calendar for the summer events here in Barga has just had what could be described as a “new entry” with the publication in the Tirreno of an article by Francesco Cosimini setting out in broad strokes what will be happening during June, July, August and part of September at the Villa Libano.
The Nuovo Circolo dei Differenti appeared for the first time on Facebook just a couple of days ago, but just what is it ?
It has been formed by Walter Tognocchi, Keane, Riccardo Negri and Andrea Guzzoletti and is there to promote cultural events in Barga.
Barga Jazz Club which generally closes its doors during the summer months will be moving its operations to just outside the city walls at the Villa Libano where they will be presenting the Barga Jazz Club summer version every Friday night.
On Saturdays there will be a whole series of musical events featuring other styles of music with a calendar running right through June, July, August and into September.
Running alongside these musical events will be a series of art exhibitions and installations organised under the title of “Libeccio” – (libeccio is the fresh wind which comes in from the sea towards the mountains) and will feature predominantly a new group of artists living and working on the coast.
Plus of course the extremely successful events from last year, Enojazz after hours sessions with the musicians from the Barga Jazz festival for the second two weeks in August, the collective art exhibition organised by “Venti d’Arte” and the eagerly awaited – The Green Room photographic installation.
Francesco Baronti was born in Livorno in 1973 from Italian-Puertorican parents but spent several years of his early childhood in Somaliland, Africa, a period which greatly influenced him.
He started painting at the age of 20 and has developed his own individual style thanks to this multi-cultural background.
In 1995 Francesco was encouraged by artist Franco Sumberaz to enrol at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts. Since then, he has exhibited his work in many exhibitions, both at home and abroad
