Today the 17th June is St. Ranieri, the patron saint of Pisa.
For this occasion the Barga bell ringers were invited to ring the bells on what is probably the most famous tower in the world – The leaning tower of Pisa
It is no longer possible to ring the bells using ropes as the momentum of the swinging bells might endanger the stability of the tower but they can still be played using the clapper against the side of the bell – which is precisely how they were played today.

Oggi 17 giugno è S. Ranieri Patrono di Pisa.
Per l’occasione siamo stati a suonare, come Unione Campanari Valle del Serchio, insieme ai Campanari di Lucca, su uno dei campanili più famosi del mondo, la torre pendente.
Per motivi di stabilità non è possibile suonare a slancio per questo ci siamo attrezzati muovendo solamente battagli.
Anche l’emittente tv Canale 50 ha ripreso l’evento che è stato apprezzato anche dai moltissimi turisti.
Con i martelli elettrici presenti sulle campane il suono viene percepito molto soffuso in Piazza dei Miracoli, oggi si sentiva distintamente in gran parte della Città.
