I.F. and his getaway from home
I.F. was born in Somalia 19 years ago. He lived there for a short time, spending his childhood and teenage years in Ethiopia.
Together with his uncle he leaves Ethiopia and passes through Kenya and Uganda.
He then finds a job as waiter in a salon de the in South Sudan. His uncle gets sick and then shortly after dies from his illness. One year later I.F. moves towards Khartoum, Sudan, where he goes back to school.
“you arrived or you died” I.F.
A few month later he decides to cross the desert to reach Libya but was arrested straight away. He spends the next 4 months in jail in Benghazi.
When he leaves prison he goes to Tripoli and takes a boat but in a wrong direction and arrives in Djerba, Tunisia.
He was hosted in Shousha refugees camp in the south, close to Libyan border.
After 2 years he back to Tripoli and takes a boat, this time in the right direction and arrives in Italy where 6 months later he is given political asylum

Scrittimaiali and Stefano Tommasi Fotografie will start the reverse trip going to Tunisia this Sunday, looking for Shousha refugees camp where I.F. spent 2 years.
Stefano Elmi -- We will start from this wrong trip, which if it wasn’t been so dangerous would have been very comic. We will start from this wrong trip, unthinkable for us. Even myself I didn’t believe when he told to me, I thought I hadn’t understood. “Have you risked your life getting a wrong way?” I asked him, “I didn’t know. There weren’t any gps or compass on board. Just disembarked we thought to be in Italy, but we were in Tunisia” I.F. said

I.F. e la sua lunga fuga da casa
I.F. è un ragazzo nato in Somalia 19 anni fa, ma lì ci ha vissuto veramente poco. Passa la maggior parte della sua infanzia e adolescenza in Etiopia.
Grandicello assieme ad uno zio attraversa Kenya e Uganda, dove restano un po’ di tempo.
Poi I.F. trova lavoro come aiutante in un salone del té in Sud Sudan. Lo zio ammalato, poco dopo muore.
Dopo più di un anno I.F. si muove verso Khartoum, Sudan, dove ritorna a scuola.
Qualche mese dopo decide di attraversare il deserto ed andare in Libia, appena entra nel paese è arrestato. Passa quattro mesi in una prigione a Bengasi.
Uscito dalla prigione va verso Tripoli dove prende una barca, sbaglia rotta e arriva a Djerba in Tunisia.
Viene ospitato nel campo profughi di Shousha nel sud del paese, vicino al confine libico.
Dopo due anni ritorna a Tripoli, prende una barca e stavolta non sbaglia rotta, arriva in Italia.
Sei mesi dopo ottiene l’asilo politico.

Scrittimaiali e Stefano Tommasi Fotografie cominceranno, molto meno allo sbaraglio di I.F., il viaggio a ritroso trasferendosi proprio in Tunisia domenica prossima. Alla ricerca del campo profughi di Shousha, dove per due anni I.F. e molti altri hanno vissuto.
Inizieremo da questo viaggio sbagliato, da questo errore, che se non fosse stato per la sua pericolosità sarebbe davvero comico.
Inizieremo da questo viaggio sbagliato, per noi davvero inconcepibile, al quale io stesso non ci credevo quando lui me lo ha raccontato. Pensavo avessi capito male. “Hai rischiato la vita e hai sbagliato rotta?” gli ho chiesto, “e io che ne sapevo, non c’era né gps né bussola a bordo. Appena sbarcati pensavamo di essere arrivati in Italia, invece era la Tunisia” risponde I.F.
