Renovations at Casa Cordati

It may well be the “slack time” as far as tourism is concerned in this city at the moment and the awful weather of the past month has not helped it in any case but that does not mean that those who are involved in welcoming visitors to Barga can rest on their laurels.

In fact, this is the time when major preparations and alterations can take place so that it causes the minimum of disruption to services.

As you can plainly see from the images above there are some serious restructuring and renovations in progress at the moment in one of Barga Vecchia’s historic palazzo’s – Casa Cordati.

“Everybody should take active part in the battle of art, because the artist’s life is connected to the life of all his contemporaries, and because art leaves eternal traces of the life of peoples.”

Bruno Cordati

The work is being done in the part of the Casa Cordati where Bruna Cordati Martinelli lived until recently.

Bruna who died in December last year (article here), was a literary critic and author and was the daughter of the painter Bruno Cordati and lived until the last couple of days of her life in the Palazzo Cordati in Barga Vecchia, in amongst her father’s collection of paintings and art gallery.

The finished rooms should be available for visitors to Casa Cordati and to Barga just before Easter 2015.
