Summer exhibitions and workshops return to Quattro Archi in Barga Vecchia
A new season of exhibitions and creative workshops is underway at Quattro Archi in Barga Vecchia, continuing the space’s growing programme of visiting artists, printmakers and textile specialists from both Italy and abroad.
Currently on display is the Colour to Cloth exhibition, linked to the textile and natural dyeing course led by Carol Waller, who also worked in Barga last year (article here ). The exhibition brings together work created through the exploration of colour, fabric and traditional techniques, adding another international dimension to the cultural life of Barga Vecchia during the summer months.
The programme will continue next week with the return of Jo Horswill from Australia, who will lead two back-to-back courses focusing on botanical printing techniques (article here) Alongside the practical workshops, participants will also work with Victoria, returning from Florence after taking part last year, who will help transform the material produced during the courses into an artist’s book created collaboratively by the group.
Later in the season, master printmaker Michael Waight from Aberdeen will arrive in Barga to lead a drypoint printmaking course, while Susie Hunt will conduct workshops in watercolour painting.
Michael Waight and Susie Hunt will also present a joint exhibition scheduled to open on June 26 and will remain on display for most of the summer.
Mostre e workshop estivi tornano al Quattro Archi di Barga Vecchia
Una nuova stagione di mostre e laboratori creativi è iniziata al Quattro Archi di Barga Vecchia, proseguendo il crescente programma dello spazio dedicato ad artisti ospiti, incisori e specialisti tessili provenienti sia dall’Italia che dall’estero.
Attualmente è in mostra Colour to Cloth, esposizione collegata al corso di tessitura e tintura naturale guidato da Carol Waller, che aveva già lavorato a Barga lo scorso anno. La mostra riunisce opere nate dall’esplorazione del colore, dei tessuti e delle tecniche tradizionali, aggiungendo un’ulteriore dimensione internazionale alla vita culturale di Barga Vecchia durante i mesi estivi.
Il programma proseguirà la prossima settimana con il ritorno dall’Australia di Jo Horswill, che terrà due corsi consecutivi dedicati alle tecniche di stampa botanica. Accanto ai laboratori pratici, i partecipanti lavoreranno anche con Victoria, di ritorno da Firenze dopo aver partecipato lo scorso anno, che aiuterà a trasformare il materiale prodotto durante i corsi in un libro d’artista realizzato collettivamente dal gruppo.
Più avanti nella stagione arriverà a Barga il maestro incisore Michael Waight, proveniente da Aberdeen, che terrà un corso dedicato alla tecnica della puntasecca, mentre Susie Hunt condurrà workshop di pittura ad acquerello.
Michael Waight e Susie Hunt presenteranno inoltre una mostra congiunta che aprirà il 26 giugno e rimarrà visitabile per gran parte dell’estate.
