Civic Museum - an undiscovered jewel in Barga

One of the undiscovered jewels of Barga is the small but very beautiful Civic Museum housed in the Palazzo Pretorio next to the Duomo. It has been extensively restored to some of its original splendor and can rightfully hold its head up as one of the finest museums in the Lucca area.

Be prepared, it is not a large museum but it has been designed in such a way that the space seems larger and there is little chance that you could get bored as there are some stunning exhibits in most of the rooms.

Do not miss a quick tour of the prison below the museum. A quick tour is all you will need as the place is chilling. Check out the graffiti and drawings left on the walls by some of the prisoners in the cells and thank your lucky stars that you have the possibility to walk out into the sunshine once more.

A complete new website of the museum can be seen here
