The Lake Angels have just announced the dates for this year’s Soul Festival. Last year they did this at Gallicano during a dinner for two hundred and fifty people sitting down to eat for the annual Solidarity Evening organised by the Kwizera organisation (article here) This time it was a more “Barga” affair as they chose to publicize the event via a 4 by 2 metre advertising hoarding erected up on the side of the Palazzo Angelio in Barga Vecchia. The Palazzo which has been undergoing long awaited renovations has been covered up by white plastic sheeting since April and has been the center of some heated debate as to just what colour it will be once the scaffolding comes down (article here) What better place for the Lake Angels to put their publicity .. it cannot help but be noticed.

So to business; The 2nd Lake Angels Soul Festival will be held at the football stadium J. Moscardini on the 10th, 11th, and 12th July. Just like last year it will be a free Festival with no admission fee.

Lake Angels è una associazione di Barga nata quasi per caso da un gruppo di amici circa 10 anni fa, che negli ultimi 5 anni ha collaborato con l’Ass.ne Kwizera Onlus di Gallicano. Kwizera opera in una zona del Rwanda e cerca, oggi possiamo dire con successo!, di mettere in pratica piccoli ma concreti progetti: abitazioni, sistemi di irrigazione, ambienti per allevamento, finalizzati al miglioramento delle condizioni di vita di quella popolazione, la maggior parte costituita da bambini.
Noi come Lake Angels abbiamo organizzato, nell’ambito delle varie manifestazioni estive ed invernali di Barga, vari eventi musicali, eno-gastronomici e ricreativi il cui ricavato é stato interamente destinato ai suddetti progetti.
Anche quest’anno organizzeremo la seconda edizione del SOUL FESTIVAL un evento musicale che vedrà come protagonisti musicisti italiani ed internazionali che si alterneranno sul palco presso lo STADIO J. MOSCARDINI di BARGA nei giorni 10-11-12 LUGLIO 2009.
Grazie anche alla collaborazione della A.S. Barga, che metterà a disposizione le proprie strutture, sarà possibile degustare un menù diverso ogni sera. Il nostro progetto, già in corso d’opera, è la costruzione di un acquedotto che servirà a portare l’acqua ad una comunità di 500 famiglie e ad una scuola con circa 1500 bambini. I lavori che saranno ultimati entro pochi mesi 20.000 euro, 12.000 dei quali già raccolti con gli eventi organizzati in questo ultimo anno.
