A week or so ago we published an article about the Marco Poma exhibition in Palazzo Pancrazi in which we wrote : “Anybody leaving the Palazzo Pancrazi this morning could walk literally in any direction for just five minutes and find themselves in front of the object of Marco’s work – the chestnut trees which surround the city but after seeing “Ciocchi d’oro – Omaggio ai castagni secolari” they would be difficult to view those trees in precisely the same way as before.”
Leaving your house and walking in any direction for 5 minutes and finding something interesting to look at is a fascinating idea.
So how about a little experiment?
Since the advent of digital smartphones, it would appear that more or less everybody now has a camera and a stopwatch in their pocket.
Let’s use these objects and see if we can make some interesting images together.
Where ever you live, leave your house walk for five minutes and then taking a series of photographs of what you can see.
Then post those images up to any of the social networks, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr or Pinterest using the hashtag #fiveminutesfromhome
Using any of the search engines that specialise in images with hashtags we can all see those images grouped together.
Probably the easiest search engine to use will be tophashtags.com or maybe statigram if you have used Instagram to take your images.
Either way, it could be an interesting little game as for most people living here in Barga, within five minutes are out in the countryside but for many of you reading this living in cities, five minutes from your house is still going to be in an urban environment so the images that you take are going to be of an urban nature …… but maybe not.
