In May of this year, Riccarda Bernacchi and Lucia Morelli wrote as their introduction (article here) to the presentation of the new menu at the Locanda di Mezzo – a menu should tease the senses, especially smell and taste. however, when artworks and artistic photographs of mouthwatering dishes are added, sight becomes involved as well, as do the hearts and souls of viewer and creator.
The menu at la locanda di mezzo is an artist’s menu, reminiscent of the artist’s book, a genre with techniques in its own right as first propounded by william Blake between the eighteenth and the nineteenth centuries. as if there were a common thread binding the countries across the channel with Barga, four artists – Fabrizio Da Prato, Giorgia Madiai, Keane, and Stefano Tommasi – are enhancing a sophisticated oenogastronomic search through their art.
The new menu is printed in different copies, each containing a unique creation born from the imagination of the artists and the chef.
In that article it was also written that “Art is everywhere at la locanda, seducing the public from the cellars to the lavatory and in the dining room and Giorgia Madiai who is also the curator intends to promote this undertaking with other artists as well.
This morning precisely that took place with the presentation on the new winter menu prepared by the chefs, Francesco Piacentini & Lorenzo Boschi from the Locanda, this time with work from Nicola Salotti.

Nicola Salotti presenterà in questa occasione l’ edizione di 20 Menù d’ Artista editati e stampati per l’ occasione, la presentazione si svolgerà alle ore 12:00 presentata da Lucia Morelli dell’ associazione culturale Venti d’ Arte.
Nicola Salotti is a contemporary visual artist. Born in Barga (LU) in 1981 and educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence (where he graduated in 2006)
He has experimented with his visual language, first with a figurative approach, followed by what is still the principal focus of his artistic quest: the personal unconscious, and especially the collective unconscious.
All this expressed through an art which starts from a formal analysis of the very first surrealism, going through Abstract art and turning into a completely original and personal interpretation.
Fascinated by the relationship between Holism and Quantum Physics and inspired by the Posthuman philosophies. He immerses himself in the Chaos, he obtains atmospheres in unique and cosmogonic forms.
Sensitive and attentive to all forms of contemporary art, he has ventured and is still working in Painting, Drawing, Graphic Art, Digital Graphics, Video Art and Street Art.
Applying abstractions, deformations and colour associations creates an unprecedented situation, in which the viewer confronts himself with the conditioning of his perception and must reconsider his prejudicial position.
His works are based on formal associations that open a unique poetic vein. Stratiform images emerge in settings whose fragility and instability of our reality are apparently questioned in favour of an extended awareness.
Applying a poetic and often metaphorical language creates intense personal moments, masterfully created by means of rules and omissions, acceptance and rejection, attracting the viewer in the round by immersing him in his own creations. – source
Nicola Salotti è un artista visivo contemporaneo. Nato a Barga (LU) nel 1981, la formazione acquisita presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze (nella quale si laurea nel 2006) lo porta a sperimentare un primo approccio figurativo nel linguaggio visivo, seguito però da quello che attualmente resta il focus principale della sua ricerca artistica: l’inconscio personale, e soprattutto quello collettivo. Questo espresso attraverso un’arte, che parte da un’analisi formale del primissimo surrealismo, passa attraverso l’astrattismo e si trasforma giungendo ad un’ interpretazione del tutto originale e personale.
Affascinato dal rapporto tra Olismo e Fisica Quantistica e ispirato dalle filosofie Posthuman.
Si immerge nel Caos, ne ricava atmosfere in forme uniche e cosmogoniche.
Sensibile e attento verso tutte le forme d’arte contemporanea, si è cimentato e si cimenta tutt’ora in Pittura, Disegno, Grafica d’Arte, Grafica digitale, Video Arte e Street Art.
Applicando astrazioni, deformazioni e associazioni cromatiche crea una situazione senza precedenti, in cui lo spettatore si confronta con il condizionamento della propria percezione e deve riconsiderare la sua posizione pregiudiziale. Le sue opere si basano su associazioni formali che aprono una vena poetica unica. Immagini stratiformi emergono in ambientazioni la cui fragilità e l’instabilità della nostra realtà apparentemente sono messe in discussione a favore di una presa di coscienza estesa.
Applicando un linguaggio poetico e spesso metaforico crea momenti personali intensi, magistralmente creati per mezzo di regole ed omissioni, accettazione e rifiuto, attirando lo spettatore a tutto tondo immergendolo nelle proprie creazioni
Diverse sue opere sono presenti in numerose collezioni pubbliche e private.
La sua arte riceve diversi riconoscimenti ufficiali.
