A surprise in Barga Vecchia this morning as into the piazza walked a couple with two ladened donkeys.
A long term project covering many kilometres with the name “Un attimo sto arrivando” with Helena Kagemark from Sweden & Carlo Magnani from Italy with Toni a ten year old donkey and AuroraAlba the senior with 12 years.
As you can hear in the short interview below (in Italiano) they have been travelling since 2016 walking all the way from Italy up through Europe to Göteborg in Sweden and then back again and are now on their way through Italy to Puglia.
They average between 12 and 15 kilometres a day and have been planting trees along the route … now well on the way to 500 young trees and counting… to create a path across Europe which they call VIA ASINA.

Helena e Carlo lavorano tutt’e due con l’arte scenica in diverse forme.
Il ruolo di Carlo al teatro è variato negli anni, dal tecnico, all’assistente di regia, all’attore. Ha fondato l’associazione culturale Teatri del Vento insieme a Giovanni Delfino. Ha lavorato con altri gruppi in Italia, ha viaggiato attraversando i mari e tenendo le fila di un palcoscenico galleggiante, è stato in turné con Barevoet nei mulini e nelle chiese d’Olanda. Ma prima che arrivasse al teatro, molti anni fa, raccoglieva patate a Chester, è stato barista a La Spezia, ha giocato a calcio a Massa. Da qualche anno a questa parte lo trovate spesso nei giardini dove prende cura del verde. Come camminatore non si sbriga ma neanche tira le gambe. Canta volentieri e con la tromba accompagna i suoi passi.
Helena nel corso degli anni ha camminato parecchi chilometri sulla sua corda tesa. In collaborazione con Cecilia Lagerström, sotto il nome Alkemisterna, produce progetti artistici e scenici. Le ultime opere sono state dedicate all’arte del cammino.
Ha conseguito un master in teatro con la produzione dell’opera: Självkskådaren.
